Recently I went on a trek to a national park in the far north. It felt so good and spirited me back up because with each pace I took in nature it felt like I was being replenished with fresh energy..
But what was not so refreshing is the sight we got to see on the way. Throughout the trail, both sides of the trail had scattered thrown out chocolate and candy wrappers, emptied chips packets, polythene covers and much more. This is the mountains I am talking about, much lesser taken roads..
Why would human interaction or activity thoughtfully decide to dump non-biodegradable waste on fertile land ? This came up more than once in our interactions on the way. However one thing me and my friends decided to do was to put back the wrappers and emptied chips packets and even orange peels back to our backpacks so that we can dump it in a proper waste bin on the way. God knows whether it would be emptied somewhere in the forest or would go to recycling at all.
Returning back to the city, that sight only worsened because you know what metro cities are not about 'scattered wrappers here and there' but piled up wastes dumped on to the road sides and clearings in plain sight.
WHY ?
Lets forget why because answering that would involve addressing personal choices, mindset, who cares attitudes, etc. etc.
Lets try and remediate..
